Innocent Ujah Idibia, widely known by his stage name 2Baba (and formerly 2Face Idibia), is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer, and philanthropist. Born on September 18, 1975, in Jos, Plateau State, he is considered one of the most influential and greatest Afrobeats artists of all time.
2Baba‘s musical journey began in the late 1990s as a member of the popular R&B/hip-hop group Plantashun Boiz, alongside Blackface Naija and Faze. After the group disbanded in 2004, he launched a highly successful solo career with his debut album, Face 2 Face. The album featured the massive international hit “African Queen,” a song that not only catapulted him to global fame but also became the soundtrack for the 2006 Hollywood film Phat Girlz.
Throughout his career, 2Baba has received numerous awards, including the MTV Europe Music Award, World Music Award, and multiple Headies and BET Awards. He is celebrated for his lyrical depth, vocal range, and lasting impact on African music. Beyond his music, he is recognized for his philanthropic efforts through the 2Baba Foundation and for his role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
