Tekno, born Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu on December 17, 1992, in Bauchi State, Nigeria, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer, and dancer also known by the alias Alhaji Tekno or The Golden Boy of Africa. Hailing from Ivo Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, he grew up across various parts of Nigeria, including Kaduna and Abuja, because his father served in the Nigerian Army. Tekno‘s musical journey began early; he was enrolled in a music school at the age of 8, where he learned to play the piano and guitar.
His professional career began in 2012, and he gained prominence in 2013 after releasing his first official single, “Holiday,” which featured Davido. Tekno is celebrated as a major Afrobeats artist, known for hit singles like “Duro” and “Pana.” He has earned several awards, including Best New Act at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards and Song of the Year at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in the same year. Tekno has also secured notable collaborations, including a feature on Beyoncé’s 2019 album, The Lion King: The Gift, on the track “Don’t Jealous Me.” He has been signed to labels including Made Men Music Group and K-Money Entertainment.
