The brief love story of a young Nigerian Army medical officer, Lieutenant (Dr.) Samson Haruna, turned to tragedy a mere five months after his wedding in April 2025.

The officer, who served with the 6 Battalion at Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa, Akwa Ibom, reportedly lost his life following a shocking domestic dispute with his wife on September 22, 2025.

According to reports, the argument escalated violently when the wife allegedly doused Lt. Haruna with petrol and ignited it, leaving him with severe, life-threatening burns.

He was rushed from the military reference section to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries. His wife has been arrested as authorities continue to investigate the heartbreaking incident.
